NIGHTSKY
Oren is a small-time criminal on the run from the police and his crime bosses alike, with nowhere to turn. Late one night, he stumbles into an abandoned warehouse with a bad gunshot wound to the gut. He's bleeding out fast - minutes to live - when the innocent and angelic Annie appears out of nowhere and offers to save his life. The next morning, Oren wakes up completely cured. Annie, standing over him, has miraculously stopped the bleeding and healed his wound. She only asks for one thing in return - that he drive her across the country, to get her home. Not one to ask too many questions, Oren agrees - and the unlikely pair sets off across America.
But the further they travel, the more Oren realizes there may be much more to the story. For one thing, Annie claims to be from an alien species that has abandoned her here on Earth, returning to rescue her at a specific time and location. What's more, they seem to be trailed by a psychotic assassin who will stop at nothing to track Annie down. Oren ultimately has to decide: Is any of this real or is it all in Annie's head?
Night Sky tracks the heartwrenching, incredible journey of this pair across the country. It's both a love letter to the American landscape as well as a stunning love story between impossible partners - climaxing in a shocking finale where we realize that Annie may just be telling the truth after all.
The film stars AJ Bowen (You're Next, A Horrible Way to Die, The Signal), Scott Poythress (Synchronicity, Felt, The Accountant) and Brea Grant (Pitch Perfect, Dexter, Heroes) - with music from Dangermouse and Ben Lovett.
Picture lock: May 2017.
